What is the Metaverse?
The term “Metaverse” gets thrown around lightly these days, but in simple terms a Metaverse is just an online digital virtual world where people can be anyone and do anything with their friends.
The Metaverse is not a new concept, its been around for as long as online multi-player games have been around. Games like Second Life, Sims, and others helped to define the genre early on.
Recently we've seen Facebook Metaverse rebrand to “Meta” & hits like the movie Ready Player One, which does a good job of visualizing what a “seamless” Metaverse would look like.
We are still quite a ways off from achieving a Ready Player One seamless Metaverse where every experience is connected, but blockchain & NFTs are helping us to get there just a bit faster!
